Hamish Napier
Solo Concert
★★★★★
“Napier has the composer’s gift of painting a picture with sound, more evocative that an artist. Superb.”
FATEA Magazine
HAMISH NAPIER is a Scottish folk multi-instrumentalist and composer from Grantown-on-Spey. His album The Woods won Album of the Year at the Scots Trad Music Awards. In this concert Hamish will share a few of the work-in-progress pieces from forthcoming album no.4, The Hill. Humorous, engaging and heart-warming, Hamish’s performances often incorporate poems and stories about nature, folklore and communities, and this promises to be a wonderful and intimate event.

Georgia Rose Murray
Arctic Research Talk
Live talk with Q&A
Georgia is a painter and Lecturer, who has visited Svalbard multiple times over the last decade. Each research expedition has been planned specifically to paint in response to the extremely different light, colours and weather, throughout each season. In 2025, Georgia returned for her second summer and the changes she witnessed were devastating.
During the talk Georgia will describe the relationship she has with the remote Svalbard archipelago. She will project photographs of the landscape, and show examples of sketchbook pages, finished paintings and short film clips.
Jana Emburey
Treading Softly
Artist Talk
Get an insight into Jana’s creative practice in the Openspace where she will hold an exhibition related to memory and nature. At this informal talk she will share her story and the process behind making the artwork on show.
For Jana materials play a great importance in the work she makes. Guided by them, she explores their properties and potential behaviours, opening up possibilities of how to represent or suggest her ideas.
Wendy Grosvenor
Dangerous Drawing
Live model workshop
A tutor led workshop with artist Wendy Grosvenor (BA Hons Fine Art). Two hours of artist led creative drawing with a live model. Easels, boards and all materials will be supplied. Just bring yourself and a spirit of adventure. We will use a variety of drawing materials and the focus will be on ‘looking’, ‘responding’ and ‘marking’. Our objective will be to relax into fresh ways of drawing, brave expression and risk taking! Suitable for beginners and advanced artists.
Hamish Napier
Open Composition Session
Musical Show & Tell
Come and join Hamish Napier for this interactive, audio-visual presentation as part of Grantown Open Studios weekend, in which he will attempt (perhaps unwisely) to compose and record a piece of new folk music in front of a live audience over the space of 90 minutes. GULP!
